DON’T:
1. Please do not chew gum.
2. Do not eat hard candy, popcorn, nuts or ice. This diet may cause the tooth to break or fracture.
3. Be careful when eating hot liquids or foods. Your lip will be numb for several hours after the procedure.
4. Do not eat or chew on the side that was operated on.
DO:
1. Soreness, discomfort or even slight pain is expected. Pain medication should be taken BEFORE the local anesthetic wears off. 2-3 tablets of Advil or Tylenol usually will alleviate the discomfort.
2. Make sure to keep area very clean. Brush well and rinse with mouthwash or water after every meal. Avoid vigorous flossing. It may loosen the temporary cement or crown.
3. If your tooth was left open for draining, brush and rinse well after every meal to help flush out any debris in the tooth.
4. Take all medications as prescribed unless there are complications.
5. If swelling occurs, please call our office.
MUST:
1. The operated tooth must be restored. See your general dentist within 1-3 weeks after Root Canal treatment. (Follow all instructions until you see your dentist.)
FEMALES:
Antibiotics may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pill. If an antibiotic was prescribed, alternative methods of birth control should be used.
